OsteoFab®
in Hand & Wrist Surgery

Personalised Implants for Complex Wrist Reconstruction

OsteoFab® offers a new frontier in hand and wrist surgery — combining patient-specific design with metal-free, infection-resistant material. For surgeons treating bone loss, instability, or degenerative wrist conditions, PEKK custom implants enable reconstruction options that were previously impossible or high-risk.

OsteoFab® Case Studies for Hand & Wrist Reconstruction?

Applications in the Hand & Wrist

OsteoFab® implants and guides are currently being used or developed in the following areas:

  • Custom ulnar head replacements are designed for patients with severe arthritis, post-traumatic deformity, or revision surgery. By accurately matching the patient’s native anatomy, these implants help restore forearm rotation and ulnocarpal stability.

    • Alternative to off-the-shelf implants with limited sizing

    • Ideal for revision procedures or rare pathologies

    • Eliminates metal artifact in follow-up imaging

  • OsteoFab® lunate and scaphoid implants are used for reconstruction following advanced Kienböck’s disease, scaphoid non-union, or avascular necrosis.

    • Patient-specific design improves carpal congruity and load distribution

    • Radiolucency allows ongoing monitoring of surrounding joint health

    • Porous surface promotes long-term integration and stability

  • Cutting guides assist with osteotomies and complex reconstruction — especially in cases involving angular correction, trauma, or tumour resection.

    • Built from CT data and aligned to each patient’s anatomy

    • Improve intraoperative accuracy and reduce surgical time

    • Available for both bone resection and implant placement

    • Custom capitate and triquetrum replacements

    • Hemi-wrist reconstruction following trauma or tumour

    • Complex carpal reconstructions in congenital and acquired deformities

    • Joint replacements
