GENOS MC
The GENOS MC is an internal finger distractor developed in co-operation with Dr. S. Ruf.
It is used in the reconstruction of the thumb or the meta-carpal bones after amputation and also in the correction of malformations. It allows lengthening of the metacarpal bone up to a maximum of 30mm and there is another smaller distractor available allowing lengthening of up to 23mm maximum, see GENOS Mini.
ADVANTAGES
-
Unlike traditional external distractors, used for callus distraction, the GENOS MC prevents intra-distraction angle deviation and bone flexion caused by scar formation after the fixator is removed.
-
The finger lengthening achieved by distraction enables the patient to use their hand in a normal way again.
-
No danger of infection caused by external nails
-
No external devices causing inconvenience
-
No bone graft required.
